There is no need to renounce hearty healthy meals, just because you do not want to heat the cooking. You can have meals tasty and hearty without using the oven or standing on a hot stove. Get out your slow cooker or crockpot and make a delicious vegetable beef soup. Sloppy Joes in the crock pot are a great way to serve a busy family. Is your family prefer the chicken? Make cashew chicken. The appeal of recipe to serve over hot pasta. If you do not want to make pasta, why not bake a few minute brown rice?
SLOW COOKER VEGETABLE BEEF SOUP
1 lb boneless round steak, cut into bite-sized pieces
1 can (14 1/2-oz) diced tomatoes, undrained
3 cups of water
3 potatoes medium-sized, peeled & diced
2 medium onions, diced
3 ribs celery, sliced
3 medium, sliced carrots
1 Cup cut - up cabbage
3 beef broth cubes
1/2 tsp. dried Basil
1/2 tsp dried oregano
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 TSP black pepper freshly ground
1 1/2 cup frozen vegetables
Mix all ingredients, except frozen vegetables, the slow cooker or crockpot. Cover and cook the during 6 hours. Add frozen vegetables, cover and cook for 2 hours or until the meat and the vegetables are tender.
Yield: 8 to 10 servings
CROCKPOT SLOPPY JOES
3 lbs lean ground beef
1 can (16-oz) tomato sauce
1 cup of water
1 pepper, finely chopped
2 medium yellow onions chopped
2 dry packages Sloppy Joe mix
salt and pepper to taste
Brown the ground beef in a skillet and drain off the coast of excess fat. Beef chopped in the crock pot and add the remaining ingredients; Stir to mix well. Cook on low setting for 8 to 10 hours or on the high definition for 5 to 6 hours.
Serve on bread Hamburger with various condiments.
SLOW COOKER CHICKEN CASHEW
1 (3-4 lb) chicken, cut and skin removed
1 medium yellow, minced onion
1/3 cup orange juice, non-diluted concentrate
1 teaspoon dried Rosemary
1 tsp salt
cayenne pepper 1/4 TSP
2 tbsp flour
water 3 tablespoons
1/2 cup chopped cashew nuts
Hot baked whole grain pasta
Place the chicken in the crock pot. Combine onion, orange juice concentrate, Rosemary, salt and cayenne pepper; pour over the chicken. Cover and cook 4 to 5 hours low, until chicken juices run clear. Remove chicken from pot and keep warm.
In a saucepan, mix the flour and water until smooth smooth. Incorporate the cooking juice and bring to a boil. Cook and stir for a few minutes until thickened. Incorporate cashew. Pour the mixture over chicken and serve with hot pasta.
